"Resident was experiencing an excessive fall rate due to impaired cognitive
patterns which did not cue her to lock the wheels prior to attempting
to rise from or to sit down in the chair resulting in the wheelchair rolling
away from the resident and causing a fall. This resident had experience
23 falls in a three-month period. The "SAFER Wheelchair" was placed into
service with immediate success. During the next six months the resident experience six falls, all of which can
be attributed to overall deterioration and increase of medications. None
of the six falls are attributed to the movement of the wheelchair during
entry or exit of the resident. "SAFER Wheelchairs" are not a luxury item
for cognitively impaired residents, but are a necessity for their well
being and to allow for continued safe mobility."

"Dear Dr. Dugas: To date we have purchased three of the Wheelchair Wheel
Lock kits. They are working very well. The residents that are using the
lock kits have not had a fall from their wheelchairs since the lock kits
were applied. We are very happy with the product."
